Winter Reflections + New Year Offerings

Hi there,

It’s been a while since my last newsletter, and I hope this finds you well.

I structure my coaching programs to align with the seasons (~1 program per quarter). I notice that after launching a program, I tend to shift from focusing outward to my broader community (newsletters, Instagram, etc) to focusing closer-in (directly serving my clients and groups).

Anyhoo, that's why I go a bit quiet publicly and sometimes skip newsletters, in case you were wondering where I went. 😄

Winter has had me leaning into its wisdom: moving slower, more intentional action, and simplification. To that end, in today's newsletter I'm just going to share what I’ve been up to, lessons I’ve learned, and what offerings I have available to support you in the next few months.

Happenings + Lessons

A Slow, Soulful Holiday

With the short window between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the season felt time-constrained. I started to feel panicked - not enough time to do all the things!

Luckily, I listened to my stress and clarified for myself what was really important. I intentionally slowed my frenetic energy by cutting activities and drawing clear boundaries. And, it was one of our best holidays yet.

  • Takeaway: Presence > Presents: Most people don’t remember the gifts, but they do remember how it felt to be around you.

Making What I Want Happen

I dreamed of attending an adults-only holiday party this year. It didn’t happen. 😭

So, I let that disappointment fuel my action. We hosted a simple family-friendly gathering - fresh chicken noodle soup, drippy moody candles, and rum cake. Not what I originally envisioned, but exactly what I needed.

  • Takeaway: Transform disappointment into action. Let jealousy/anger/frustration show you what you care about and spark creative action.

Strong Intentions, Flexible Goals

I traveled to Hawaii with 14 family members to ring in the new year. Routines were out of wack and my exercise "plan" went down in flames. But I remained true to my intention and felt supremely proud of my wisely adapted exercise plan. Read more about my story of 'failed goals' on Instagram.

  • Takeaway: Be Flexible: Let intentions ground you and goals be experiments that teach you.

2024 Reflections + 2025 Intentions

For me, annual reflection is a slow burn. I spend December and January getting honest about the past year and marinating in the lessons. I do this before I set resolutions... and my new intentions tend to emerge naturally after that.

A reflection practice is very supportive for me in the winter. To that end, I'm diving into The Artist’s Way again this quarter (more on that below).

Jay and I are also in the midst of our Partner Summit meetings (this is us - it's still in progress.) Download my step-by-step guide on how to do this below - even if you're single.

  • Takeaway: Reflect backward to move forward intentionally: Set aside time for your annual reflection. Trust that the right new year intentions will surface when it's time.

Thriving isn’t a personality trait. It’s a result of *skills* that many of us weren't taught or modeled. I teach those skills through a portfolio of businesses and offerings - group wellness programs in workplaces, 1:1 life coaching, and creative projects. I love helping people feel less anxious and more stoked about their lives. My approach? Professional, practical, and actionable — with a dash of woo and sprinkle of sass.

Jen Ottovegio Coaching December 2, 2025 Why Slowing Down Is So Hard (And Why I’m Practicing Anyway) I’ve been thinking a lot about slowing down lately — not as a luxury or something we 'earn', but as a life skill. A leadership skill. A sanity skill. I’ll be real with you:Slowing down is hard for me. I love getting things done. The thrill of checking things off a list is real. This isn't inherently bad. But, sometimes I hide inside the pace. Over the last year this phrase kept coming to me:...

Jen Ottovegio Coaching November 3, 2025 Rethink How You Plan If you’re anything like me (and most of my clients), your brain loves a good plan. You set the goal, build the to-do list, maybe even color-code it. But sometimes the plan still doesn’t work. Something unexpected gets in the way — a missed detail, a human emotion, a blind spot. What if better planning isn’t about adding more detail… but about asking a different question entirely? That’s where Inversion Thinking comes in. Inversion...
