You can’t make the turn at 100 mph.

Just getting off the heels of a couple intentionally slow days at the Oregon Coast. I integrated by writing a new (and potent, I must say) piece.

This piece felt important enough to just send directly.

It’s about the skills that will actually matter in the next decade. (Per my opinion, as I don't have a magic ball).

I'd argue these were important skills in every decade thus far. But in this moment of AI, things feel different.

I make the case that the ability to slow down, hear yourself clearly, and choose what actually matters are the more important skills to cultivate.

Because if you don’t know what to do next, the answer is rarely “do more.” It’s usually “create enough space to see clearly.”

Read the post to explore the four practices I value most right now (personally and with clients):

  • Decelerating on purpose
  • Reducing what you consume
  • Being silent (yes, actually)
  • Integrating what surfaces into real action

I also give specific examples of techniques to try, resources to explore, and examples from my life and the lives of my clients.

If your life has been feeling full, fast, or unclear… I think this will land.

And if you know you need to practice these skills, but aren't sure when or how…

I’m currently gifting 15 private coaching sessions through The Intentional Year Project.

It’s a free, 60-minute conversation where we:

  • Clarify what actually deserves your energy this year
  • Identify what’s pulling you off course
  • Define a clear next step (and how to protect it)

If that sounds supportive, grab one of the remaining spots here 👉

Everyone loves this quote from Mary Oliver. For good reason.

It’s a confronting question. But I don’t read it as pressure. I read it as an energy question.

Where is your life force going?
What gets your best thinking?
What gets your leftovers?

In my experience, most people don’t need reinvention. They need to slow down enough to really hear themselves, then reallocate their energy accordingly. Book a session to make it happen.

Thriving isn’t a personality trait. It’s a result of *skills* that many of us weren't taught or modeled. I teach those skills through a portfolio of businesses and offerings - group wellness programs in workplaces, 1:1 life coaching, and creative projects. I love helping people feel less anxious and more stoked about their lives. My approach? Professional, practical, and actionable — with a dash of woo and sprinkle of sass.

Jen Ottovegio Coaching March 3, 2026 This weekend I did lots of things that scared me. I want to tell you about two of them. 😳 On Friday, I went to an erotica poetry open mic night at my local pub. As I was preparing to go, I thought: “I cannot imagine sharing something like that with a room full of strangers.” And of course… the moment I had that thought, I knew I wanted to try. I’ve learned something about myself over the years: If I want to grow, I have to keep doing different things. Not...

Intentional Year Project

Jen Ottovegio Coaching February 16, 2026 One year from now... how do you want to feel? In your body, in your work, in your relationships, in your mind. Grounded? Proud? Like you were truly in the driver’s seat of your life? Personally, I don’t want to look back 12 months from now, wondering where my energy went. And I don't want that for you either. So today, I'm launching something to support us in living with more intention. Introducing: The Intentional Year Project Between now and March...

Jen Ottovegio Coaching February 9, 2026 This Wednesday at noon pacific I'm offering a workshop called Intentional Mornings. I’ve been keeping promotion pretty minimal, solely because I'm in puppy overwhelm + sick kid season - so, my apologies for the late notice. Consider this your direct and warm invitation. 💙 Over the past year, I’ve run this workshop half a dozen times for corporate groups (law firms, HR teams, and leadership cohorts) and it’s been consistently one of the most...
